Easter Service

posted 4 Apr 2014, 04:23 by Mrs R Walker-Green

We have just returned from our Easter Service; thank you to all the parents who came along.  The children were absolutely fantastic; their creations, reading and singing were super.  We have left the decorated crosses (see below!) in church over Easter so they can be seen and perhaps mentioned by Reverend Doug during St Mary's Easter Service.  Thank you too for all the complimentary comments about the service today; they mean a great deal.

Open Door

What a fantastic week we have had!
On Tuesday afternoon we had our first whole school 'Open Door'.  It was so lovely to see everyone sharing their work, whether that was children with parents, children with grandparents, children with children or children with teachers / Teaching Assistants.  Thank you to all who came.  It was a real success!

Following on from the fire brigade visit, Jane, our PCSO, visited Class 1 to share with the children how she helps people.  The children particularly enjoyed looking at the police car!

Fire Service Visit

Class 1 have had a super time exploring the fire engine today, as part of their topic, 'People Who Help Us'. To top it all, the children then had a go at firing the huge hose at bollards to see if they could knock them over, before hearing the siren as the fire engine left! Have a look at the photographs below.

What a super (and busy!) time we have had today on World Book Day.  The day started with a special assembly before each class took part in a book hunt.  Each class also participated in D.E.A.R. (Drop everything and Read) and in a House version of our 'You Read a Book Where?!' competition.

I have been blown away by the parental support we have received for our individual 'You Read a Book Where?! competition.  Fantastic photographs have been flooding in all day and our judging panel will have a very difficult decision deciding upon winners.  Thank you for all your efforts.  Winners will be announced in the next Celebration Assembly.
