This morning, 12 children from Years 2 to 5 represented Staverton in the Daventry Area Learning Community Olympic Event, held at Daventry Sports Park.

William, Thomas, James, Charlie, Libby and Millie represented years 2 and 3, whilst Cameron, Georgia, Heidi, Ben K, Max and Lee represented years 4 and 5. The two teams competed in various sports including Hockey, Football, Track and field events.

All of the children threw themselves into each sport and thoroughly enjoyed trying out each discipline, with some children putting in some extra special performances. Georgia's fine effort coming 4th in the long distance run was particularly impressive as she was the only girl in the race, whilst Max threw the Vortex an astounding 14 metres. Elsewhere Thomas and Lee were goalscorers in the football and Cameron showed some deft touches in the hockey.

The eventual winners were the Welton Year 2 and 3 team, followed by Woodford Halse's Year 2s and 3s in the silver medal position, Weedon's Year 4s and 5s took the bronze medal. All of the teams that took part received medals for their participation. Here are the Staverton teams proudly showing theirs off.
